Team Gannon Wins Cup with Help from Unlikely Source – Oregon Hoops!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Rocky cliffs.  The Trailblazers.  Tree huggers.  Fog.  What else do people on the east coast know about Oregon?

Well, now we know to add basketball to that list.

Team Gannon finalized an improbable run to their 3rd Hemcher Cup title last night with a come-from-behind victory over Team Zucker in the championship game of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  It turned out to be the closest Hemcher Cup ever, if you don’t count Gannon & Knight tying in 1998.  Gannon caught Zucker, and held on by a mere 8 points for the win.

Along the way, Team Lampazzi’s GM might be looking at a raise after Maryland’s Juan Dixon turned in an amazing performance this year to become the Hemcher Cup’s All-Time, single tournament leading scorer.

Team Knight, last year’s Champion, had a disappointing year, coming in fourth.  Team Poli continued to struggle, coming in last yet again.  Team Tonsmeire, whose team played a lot of games, could not get the guys to score and fell back to fifth place.  Team Lampazzi,
whose middle round picks were decimated in early rounds, finished third.
