With the E8 now in the books, here’s the current standings. Knight made a major jump in the standings this round:
1. Zucker: 639pts. 3 players left (Bama, NC State, Purdue)
2. Knight: 627pts. 5 players left (Uconn (2), Purdue (2), Bama)
3. Tons: 603pts. 1 player left. (Purdue)
4. Lamp: 559pts. 2 players left.
5. Gannon: 547 pts. 1 player left.
Well, for the first three rounds it looked like Zucker was in pretty solid command of this thing and then the E8 happened and Knight’s guys went apeshit putting up 135 points which allowed him to make up 73 points in the round to shrink Zucker’s lead to a mere 12 points.
It would appear that Uconn and Purdue are on a collision course for a championship game which would be catastrophic for Team Zucker. In reality the Team Knight express is probably already out of the station and there’s nothing that can stop it short of a drunken Amtrak engineer. Zuck is going to have to root for a Bama vs. NC State final but even then Knight probably passes him in the next round and it won’t matter. Tons technically is not out of this yet but he could have felt better about his chances a bit longer had Duke advanced and Edey keeps getting fellatioed all game by the refs but even if Edey puts up 40 a game I don’t think that will put him out in front.
It looks to be a two man race for one more round and then I think the handwriting is on the wall.
