With the completion of the E8 here’s the current standings:
1. Knight 513 pts with 4 players left (Gonzaga (2), Baylor, Houston)
2. Gannon 505 pts with 2 players left (Gonzaga (2))
3. Lampazzi 500.7 pts with 2 players left (Baylor (2))
4. Tonsmeire 499 pts with 3 players left (Gonzaga, Houston (2)
5. Zucker 404 pts with 1 player left (Houston)
With the points lead and the most players left, I think it’s clearly Knight’s Cup to lose at this point. He will lose one player in the Baylor/Houston game which means he’s guaranteed one player in the championship. If Gonzaga wins, he covers Gannon and will have 3 more games of contributions from the Baylor/Houston side.
I don’t think Ter can catch Knight as his Gonzaga guys are only outscoring Knight’s guys on average by 7.5 points per round which would be enough to close the gap but that would have to assume Knight gets zeros from his Baylor and Houston guys.
Tons needs Houston to upset Baylor and for his guys to off over the last two games but I don’t think he can make up enough ground. I would need Gonzaga to lose in the F4 and not score many points and then have my two Baylor guys go NBA jams for the last two games.
It won’t be official until next Monday night but I don’t see anyone catching Knight.
