After the end of Round 1, here are the standings:
1. Lampazzi: 236pts, 9 players left. My couple of reach picks with Nevada and Samford didn’t hit with upsets taking out the other 3.
2. Gannon: 227pts, 12 players left. Loved the Drake but it was unrequited love. Also burned by Cal.
3. Zucker: 223pts, 13 players left. Would have gone unscathed except for supporting Bruce Pearl.
4. Tonsmeire: 182pts, 13 players left. Would have gone unscathed except for his fondness for the Mountain West.
5. Knight: 174pts, 12 players left. Backing Cal & Pearl cost him both players.
At this point last year Tons was the only team to break 200 pts in R1 with 209 and he got 11 guys thru to R2.
If you are wondering where you stack up against the all time scores:
2019 Knight 890*: He had 217 in R1 with 13 guys into R2.
1997 Tonsmeire 746: He had 206 pts in R1 with 13 guys into R2.
It’s still way too early to even think of making a call on the eventual champion. We won’t even bring in Steve Kornacki to consult with us until the end of R2 at the earliest.
Please feel free to audit your own scores as a secondary validation.
Sincerely,
The AttC
